Eat your Vegitables:  Vegetables are loaded with nutrients that protect against disease.  Mayo Clinic and others agree that the plant compounds in fruits and vegetables reduce the risk of hear disease.  They are good for weight control, and low in calories and high in fiber.  Fiber fills you up.  Eating fruits and vegetables will fill you up and thus may also reduce the risk of cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

There is a recommendation to eatin fruits and vegetables in a rainbow of colors.  Each plant pigment provides specific helth benefits.  The lycopene in in tomatoes, watermelon and pink grapefruit, have been shown to defend against prostate cancer, while the beta-carotene in carrots, sweet potatoes, and pumpking promote good vision and a helthy mucous memberane.

To get more fruits and vegetables into your dies, the American Heart Association suggests challenging yourself to eat a different color each day
